Unforgettable Moments: The Pride of Being a Mwirian

A heartfelt reflection by Muganwa Allan Waiswa

Hello everyone! My name is Muganwa Allan Waiswa, and I’m proud to be an old boy of both Mwiri Primary School and Busoga College Mwiri.

A Father’s greatest gift

I want to start by thanking my dad for deciding to send me to Mwiri. Being a Mwirian isn’t just about the education you receive – it’s about joining a legacy and becoming part of something extraordinary. This choice gave me something to be proud of for the rest of my life.

“The School” – A name that speaks for itself

During my time at Mwiri Primary School, we had a mathematics teacher called Mr. Sentamu Emmanuel who said something unforgettable: “Once you say ‘the SCHOOL,’ everyone just knows it’s Mwiri.”

How true those words remain today! When we mention “the SCHOOL” anywhere in Uganda and beyond, people don’t need clarification. They know we’re talking about Busoga College Mwiri – the institution that has earned its place as THE school through decades of excellence.

The pride that unites us

I am convinced that everyone associated with Mwiri feels that same surge of pride when they hear our school’s name. It is not just pride in academic achievements – it is pride in being part of a community that has consistently produced leaders and men of character who have shaped our nation.

This pride is the quiet confidence that comes with saying you are from Mwiri. People understand you have been moulded by an institution that demands the best and gives you the tools to achieve greatness.

My simple yet profound experience

My experience at Mwiri might seem simple when put into words, but its impact has been profound. From Mwiri Primary School with dedicated teachers like Mr Sentamu Emmanuel to the transformative years at Busoga College Mwiri, every moment contributed to who I am today.

The friendships, lessons, and values are not just memories – they are the foundation of our character. They make us walk taller and approach challenges with Mwiri confidence.

To fellow old boys

Fellow OBs, let us always be proud of what we are! We are living testimony of what this great school produces. Whether in boardrooms, hospitals or any field, we carry the Mwiri standard. When we succeed, we succeed as Mwirians. This is our responsibility and privilege.

Long Live Mwiri!

The reputation Mr Sentamu Emmanuel spoke about was not built overnight. It is the result of countless Mwirians who wore our badge with honour and made a difference in the world.

May our beloved institution continue to be the standard by which others measure themselves. May it continue producing leaders who shape our nation’s future.

Once a Mwirian, always a Mwirian. Long live the SCHOOL!

Thank you for reading my simple experience with our beloved institution. The pride of being a Mwirian stays with us forever.
